REVIEW - 'Jack and the Beanstalk', Louth Playgoers, Riverhead Theatre, Friday 9th - Sunday 18th January 2026 - ****
Pantomime is back at Louth Riverhead Theatre, and Jack and the Beanstalk is a bright, lively pantomime that delivers hearty laughs, musical sparkle and plenty of family fun. Michael Courtney and Derek Hodges in 'Jack and the Beanstalk' (c) GJA Photography The production is powered by a strong central cast and a slick blend of traditional panto with contemporary flair. Emma Wighton, returning from playing the principal lead in last year’s Dick Whittington , is endearing and, a

SPOTLIGHT ON... Lee Waddingham
We've got a brilliant creative artist to spark our 'Spotlight On...' 2026 series.... Q. Where in Lincolnshire are you based, and what was your first ever live performance that you participated in? "I’m based in North East Lincolnshire and my first memory of participating in a show is as an audience member. It was Summer Season at Cleethorpes Pier in 1979, I was 4 years old. The show was headlined by The Nolan Sisters, I was mesmerised and became a big fan of their’s. We had

REVIEW: 'Beauty and the Beast' - Grimsby Auditorium, 10th-30th December 2025 - ****
Grimsby Auditorium’s family pantomime, Beauty and the Beast , deserves much credit for not jumping on the tailcoat of the recent Disney ‘epics’, and instead delivers a spectacle packed with pure traditional pantomime fun. Strong song and dance numbers, comic set pieces and plenty of audience participation more than compensate for the hackneyed plot, delivering a production that is firmly aimed at family audiences and succeeds in entertaining them throughout. Visually, the sho

REVIEW - 'Gaslight', Horncastle Lion Theatre Company, Friday 21st November - ****.5/5
Patrick Hamilton’s Gaslight may be a familiar psychological thriller—its very title having inspired a now-ubiquitous term for emotional manipulation—but Adele Simpson’s assured directorial debut proves there is still plenty of menace left in this Victorian nightmare. Simpson transports her audience straight into the oppressive fog of 19th-century London, delivering a tense, tightly paced production that hums with dread. REVIEW - 'Nunsense', Louth Riverhead Theatre, Wednesday 5th - Saturday 8th November 2025 - ****
There’s something wonderfully chaotic about watching a group of nuns tap-dance their way through a fundraiser to bury their fellow sisters — and the latest production of Nunsense at Louth Riverhead Theatre captures that madness perfectly. The show, written by Dan Goggin, tells the story of the Little Sisters of Hoboken, who decide to stage a variety show to raise money for funeral costs after a tragic (and darkly comic) kitchen mishap wipes out most of the convent. It’s a r

REVIEW - 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time', Caxton Theatre, 18th-25th October 2025 - *****
Caxton Theatre’s production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time , directed by Stephen Labourne , is an ambitious and emotionally rich staging of Mark Haddon’s acclaimed novel. With inventive design, strong performances, and moments of real theatrical flair, the play, adapted by Simon Stephens, immerses the audience into the unique mind of Christopher Boone — a teenage boy navigating a world that often feels too loud, too fast, and too confusing. REVIEW: A Streetcar Named Desire - The Asylum Players, Lincoln Blue Room, 16th – 18th & 23rd – 25th October, 7.30pm, 2025 - ****.5/5
Walking into The Blue Room for The Asylum Players’ autumn production of A Streetcar Named Desire , one immediately senses an atmosphere both intimate and uneasy — which is exactly what Tennessee Williams intended. The small scale of the space underscores the claustrophobia of the story, bringing audience members uncomfortably close to the sparks of conflict, the fractures of identity, the lies and delusions.
