Our latest interview took us over to Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club....
Q. Where in Lincolnshire are you based, and what was your first ever live performance that you participated in?
"I live in Belton. Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club's rehearsal rooms are on Laneham Street Scunthorpe. My first live performance was in the chorus of 'The Merry Widow' with Dinnington Operatic Society in the early 60s. My first with SLTC was Betsey Trotwood in Young Copperfield."

Q. What was it that first drew you to the local theatre/arts scene? Has it been a constant in your life, or was there a hiatus due to work/life commitments? What sparked or, indeed, relighted your interest?
"I have been involved in amateur theatre all my life. My father was in Operatic Societies in and around Sheffield and some of my earliest memories are of watching him on stage and knowing that was what I wanted to do. So it has always been a constant in my life. When we came to this area I joined SLTC although still involved in groups in the Retford area."
Q. Give me three words that describe what theatre means to you.
"Friendship Fun Creativity."
Q. Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club. How long have you been involved with the company and how does the society function? How long is the rehearsal process, and what kind of things does the group like to stage?
"I have been with SLTC 12 years. The society functions with the hard work and dedication of it's members, who work tirelessly to bring shows to the stage. We rehearse for 3 to 4 months 2 or 3 nights a week. We try to stage plays which will appeal to our audiences, but occasionally we stage something different as with our last production 'The Canterbury Tales'.

Q. We saw 'The Canterbury Tales', and thoroughly enjoyed it. And as you say, was something different! What's been your favourite SLTC production thus far?
"Being a massive fan I always love pantomime, but if I have to choose a favourite play it would be 'Dirty Dusting' one of the funniest plays I have ever been in."

Q. What is the current production you're involved in, and your role within the company?
"I am directing 'Talking Heads'; three monologues by Alan Bennett."
Q. What would be your favourite segment of 'Talking Heads', if you had to pick?
"It's difficult to choose just one segment, but I do have a soft spot for 'A Lady of Letters' which I played a long time ago."

Q. What are the other SLTC productions on the horizon?
"Our next production is our pantomime in January 2026. This season is' Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood' written and directed by Alex Hall."
